Basketball Recap: Wake Christian Academy Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Wake Christian Academy extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-4. They were beaten by the Wilmington Christian Academy Patriots 71-30. If the Bulldogs were looking for revenge after losing 67-45 to the Patriots when the teams met back in January, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the defeat, Wake Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Braxton Avery posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Grant Schwerman, who put up seven points.

As for Wilmington Christian Academy, their victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 28.2 points.

It was another big night for Trent Davies, who shot 78% from the field on his way to 20 points in addition to five assists and five steals. Those 78% shooting accuracy gave him a new career-high. Ryan McConekey was another key player, going 6-for-7 to rack up 13 points.

Looking ahead, Wake Christian Academy will challenge Grovemont at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wilmington Christian Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-50 loss against Harrells Christian Academy on the 24th.
