Basketball Recap: Westwood Finds Playoff Glory Versus Conway

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Westwood walked away with it. They took their matchup on Monday with ease, bagging a 51-14 win over the Conway Tigers. Winning may never get old, but the Redhawks sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Westwood found their leader in sophomore Aneya Britt, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 14 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Amari Alexander, who posted ten points.

Westwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive contests.

Conway's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ahchiya Hill, who earned two points along with 11 rebounds and three steals, and Rebecca Hemingway, who put up eight points and eight boards. That was a full 57.1% of Conway's points, marking the fourth time in a row Hemingway has scored more than a third of the team's points.

Westwood's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-14. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 19.0 points over those games. As for Conway, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-19.

Westwood wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 71-69 win against White Knoll on the 20th. Conway does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
