Softball Recap: Lincoln County Takes a Loss

Friday just wasn't the day for Lincoln County's offense. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chapmanville Regional Tigers on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, with their most recent defeat being a 2-0 loss on Wednesday.

Arien Cooper spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

Lincoln County's loss dropped their record down to 17-10. As for Chapmanville Regional, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Lincoln County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Chapmanville Regional, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-0 win against Sherman on the 15th.
