Football Recap: Audubon Comes Up Short

Audubon extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-4. They were outmatched by the West Deptford Eagles and fell 29-0. While losing is never fun, the Green Wave can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while the Eagles are ranked 104th).

As for West Deptford, their win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. Fans of they have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Cole Paskiewicz and Zamir Davis. Paskiewicz rushed for 121 yards and two TDs on only 11 carries while Davis rushed for 126 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 12 carries. Davis is also on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last four games he's played.

Looking ahead, Audubon will venture away from home to challenge Gloucester Catholic at 11:00 a.m. on October 4. The Green Wave will be up against the Rams' rather soft defense (which has allowed 45.5 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for West Deptford, they will look to defend their home field on October 3 against Haddonfield at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Eagles 7, the Bulldawgs 13.8) so any points scored will be well earned.
