Football Recap: Azusa Starts Season with Loss at Home

Azusa unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost to the Duarte Falcons at home by a 29-15 margin on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Aztecs of the 38-20 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

Duarte found their leader in sophomore Jeremiah Navarrette, who rushed for 141 yards, and also picked up 31 receiving yards.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Azusa will head out to take on Ganesha at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Duarte, they will venture away from home to challenge Glendale at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
