Softball Recap: Foothills Christian Wins Going Away Against Maranatha Christian

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Escondido Charter, Foothills Christian was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Maranatha Christian Eagles an 11-0 shutout. The matchup marked the Knights' most dominant win of the season so far.

Emma Romeka made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Foothills Christian got a big performance out of Kenzie Gomez, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs Gomez has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Reese Winchester, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Foothills Christian's record now sits at 3-4. As for Maranatha Christian, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-6.

Looking ahead, Foothills Christian will face off against Bishop's at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Bishop's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Foothills Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Maranatha Christian, they are taking a road trip to challenge La Jolla Country Day at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
