It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Taylorsville had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They took down the Hunter Wolverines 42-27. The win was nothing new for the Warriors as they're now sitting on six straight.
Taylorsville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kaitlin Sterzer out in front who posted seven points and 12 rebounds. Sterzer has become a key player for Taylorsville: the team is 6-3 when she posts at least ten boards, but 5-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Tessa Duke, who put up four points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.
Taylorsville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hunter only five offensive rebounds.
Hunter's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grace Gallagher, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 12 boards. Gallagher is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in each of the last 37 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Mamakoula Tuitupou-Kutu, who scored six points and seven rebounds.
Taylorsville pushed their record up to 11-10 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points over those games. As for Hunter, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-14.
Taylorsville has already played their next match, a 70-22 loss against West on the 20th. Hunter does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
