Baseball Recap: Bishop Gorman Gets the Win

Bishop Gorman's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Fruitvale Bobcats a 12-0 shutout. The high-scoring effort was just what the Crusaders needed considering they were shutout in their previous match.

Matthias Kimic was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Kimic was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. Those runs were his first of the season.

In other batting news, Pierce Duke was a standout: he scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Jalen Miles was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Bishop Gorman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .769. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Bishop Gorman's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Fruitvale, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Coincidentally, Bishop Gorman and Fruitvale will both be playing New Summerfield the next time they take the field. Bishop Gorman will host New Summerfield at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, while Fruitvale will host them at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
