Baseball Game Preview: Peoria Notre Dame Irish vs. Centennial Chargers

The Peoria Notre Dame Irish will face off against the Centennial Chargers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games Peoria Notre Dame has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Peoria Notre Dame is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest defeat since May 2, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Normal Community by a score of 5-3. The Irish have struggled against the Ironmen recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Kaiser King made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Brendan Krider was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one double.

Meanwhile, Centennial entered their tilt with Oakwood on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Comets.

Centennial saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tate Sauer, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Centennial pushed their record up to 6-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.0 runs over those games. As for Peoria Notre Dame, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Peoria Notre Dame was able to grind out a solid win over Centennial when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 10-5. Do the Irish have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Chargers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
