Basketball Recap: Southern Choctaw Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

After flying high against Fruitdale last Friday, Southern Choctaw came back down to earth. The Southern Choctaw Indians took a 35-25 hit to the loss column at the hands of the McIntosh Demons on Tuesday. The contest marked the Indians' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Southern Choctaw lost, don't look at Marcionna Young. Despite the final result, she posted 16 points. The matchup was Young's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Madison Hill, who had seven points.

Chauncey Dixon was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 21 rebounds for McIntosh. Dixon is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 17 games she's played. Karlee Smith was another key player, putting up four points.

Southern Choctaw's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-4. As for McIntosh, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southern Choctaw will square off against Leroy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. McIntosh has already played their next game (against Excel), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
