Baseball Recap: Regent Prep Takes a Loss

Regent Prep lost to Rejoice Christian last Saturday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Regent Prep took a 13-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of Rejoice Christian. Regent Prep has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hudson Phelps made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Regent Prep's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 3-1 (and 7-9 when he doesn't). Cai Brookover was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Regent Prep's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Rejoice Christian, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-13.

Looking ahead, Regent Prep will welcome Summit Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rejoice Christian, they will take on Keys at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.81 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
