Baseball Recap: 15 Straight Home Wins for Sedgwick

Sedgwick strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on the Moundridge Wildcats with a sharp 12-4 win. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by six runs or more this season.

Corey Crumrine made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Karston Wall and Spencer Crumrine did most of the damage at the plate: Wall scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3, while Spencer scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Wall has been hot recently, having also posted three or more RBI the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Preston Agee, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Sedgwick kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive games.

Sedgwick's victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Moundridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sedgwick will venture away from home to challenge Remington on Tuesday. As for Moundridge, they will head out to take on Hillsboro at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
