Flag Football Recap: Steele Canyon Beats Granite Hills for Their Third Straight Win

Steele Canyon entered their tilt with Granite Hills on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 26-13 win over the Eagles. This was a revenge game for the Cougars: when they faced off against the Eagles back in September, they had to take a 19-7 loss.

Steele Canyon found their leader in sophomore Sophia Jackel, who threw for 259 yards and three TDs while completing 76.5% of her passes. Kaliani Ewing was Jackel's top target, picking up 31 receiving yards and one score, while also punching in one touchdown on the ground.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Steele Canyon's defense and their five sacks. Leading the way was Joelle Frazier with four.

Steele Canyon's record is now 15-4. As for Granite Hills, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-4.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Steele Canyon is set to take on their familiar foe Grossmont at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Cougars 7.4, the Foothillers 9) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Granite Hills will face off against rival Helix at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
