Soccer Game Preview: Mayfield vs. Northville

The Mayfield Panthers will take on the Northville Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Northville better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if Mayfield's game on Monday is any indication, that's when Mayfield really gets things going. The Panthers' defense stepped up to hand Canajoharie a 5-0 shutout. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for Mayfield considering their one-goal performance the matchup before.

They hit Canajoharie with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Madison Case (2), Dana Taggart, Anna Leo, and Ariana Yuret.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last contest, Northville made sure to put some goals up on the board against Mekeel Christian Academy on Monday. They blew past the Lions 4-0. Considering Northville's offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Northville now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Mayfield, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.

Everything went Mayfield's way against Northville when the teams last played on September 13th, as Mayfield made off with a 6-3 win. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
