Basketball Game Preview: Woodward Academy Knights vs. Greene County Rams

The Woodward Academy Knights will head out to face off against the Greene County Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses for Woodward Academy and four for Greene County.

Woodward Academy came up short against Martensdale-St. Mary's on Tuesday, falling 65-45. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 300th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 122nd).

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 69-23, which was the final score in Greene County's tilt against Grand View Christian on Friday.

Greene County's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Woodward Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Woodward Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Greene County in their previous meeting back in January of 2020, but they still walked away with a 52-47 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Woodward Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
