Softball Recap: Cabell Midland Extends Home Winning Streak to 12

Cabell Midland had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Parkersburg on Friday. The Knights blew past the Big Reds 18-3. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won ten matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Linda Garcia looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Becca Conrad, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Madison McCallister also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Cabell Midland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .800. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Cabell Midland's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-2. As for Parkersburg, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cabell Midland will take on Capital at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.07 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Parkersburg, they will challenge Ritchie County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
