Basketball Game Preview: Gateway Christian Eagles vs. River City Believers Academy Soldiers

The Gateway Christian Eagles will face off against the River City Believers Academy Soldiers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gateway Christian is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.

Gateway Christian came up short against Heritage Christian on Saturday, falling 63-42.

Meanwhile, River City Believers Academy had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They managed a 37-33 win over Waterloo last Friday.

Gateway Christian better keep an eye on Lukas Cox. He was instrumental in River City Believers Academy's win, going 10 of 17 on his way to 22 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Cox is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 24 games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brennen McGuire, who posted five points in addition to 14 boards and five assists.

River City Believers Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Gateway Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for River City Believers Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 6-10.

Gateway Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against River City Believers Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, sneaking past 39-36.
