Basketball Recap: Elgin Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Elgin can now relate to. They took a 48-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cardington-Lincoln Pirates on Tuesday. The Comets lost against the Pirates in their previous head to head back in February of 2020, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 81-34 score last time.

Cardington-Lincoln's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Abigail Hardwick led the charge by going 5-for-11 en route to 10 points along with six assists and five rebounds. That's the most assists Hardwick has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kinstin Henthorn, who went 6-for-15 to rack up 18 points.

Elgin's loss dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Cardington-Lincoln, their record is now 11-12.

Elgin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cardington-Lincoln, they will face off against Harvest Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
