After a string of eight wins, Manvel's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 2-0 to the Friendswood Mustangs. The Mavericks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mustangs earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

Jasmyn Walker paced Manvel's offense, picking up six kills. Walker got some help from London King and her 16 assists.

Manvel's defeat dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Friendswood, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-4.

Manvel and Friendswood should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Manvel will square off against Pasadena Memorial at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (193 vs. 632). Meanwhile, Friendswood (ranked 77th) will meet Clear Brook (ranked 331st) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
