Baseball Recap: Sleepy Eye Takes a Loss

Sleepy Eye dropped their record down to 8-5 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Springfield Tigers, falling 15-2. Indians fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Tigers since on Tuesday.

Sleepy Eye saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cody Schultz, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one double. Schultz has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played.

As for Springfield, the win keeps they at an undefeated 10-0. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.

On Springfield's side, Noah Neperman made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Neperman was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, Madden Lendt was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kade Nachreiner, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one double.
