Baseball Recap: Waverly Finds Home Field Redemption Against Platteview

There's no place like home for Waverly, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Platteview Trojans 3-2. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Kael Lade tossed a big game, tossing 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Zach McElhose was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).

Waverly's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Platteview, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Waverly wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 15-5 win against Wahoo/Bishop Neumann on the 25th. As for Platteview, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 1-0 victory against Malcolm on the 25th.
