Basketball Recap: Carlisle County Comets vs. St. Mary Vikings
Carlisle County kicked off their season on the road on Tuesday and hit a couple of potholes. They lost to the St. Mary Vikings on the road by a 62-47 margin. The Comets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.
Despite the loss, Carlisle County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Wyatt Rickard went 5 for 10 en route to 14 points plus seven rebounds and five blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Kasen Perez, who posted four points along with five steals.
St. Mary's win bumped their record up to 2-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carlisle County will face off against Lawrenceville at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Lawrenceville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.4 points per game this season. As for St. Mary, they will square off against Hickman County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
