Preview: Crowley Gent vs. St. Martinville Tigers
The Crowley Gent will be playing at home against the St. Martinville Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Crowley comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last seven games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Crowley suffered their biggest defeat since December 5, 2023 on Friday. They took a serious blow against Erath, falling 48-19. Crowley has not had much luck with Erath recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Alaysia Arvie was Crowley's leading scorer, having posted seven points. Arvie also led the team in assists with two. She held things down on the boards with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, St. Martinville pushed their score all the way to 64 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Abbeville by a score of 66-64. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat St. Martinville has suffered yet this season.
Crowley bumped their record down to 3-10 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.4 points per game. As for St. Martinville, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-4.
Crowley couldn't quite finish off St. Martinville in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 and fell 38-35. Can Crowley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
