Staunton waltzed into their matchup on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They took their game with ease, bagging a 71-31 victory over the Mt. Olive Wildcats. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while the Wildcats are ranked 451st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Staunton has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season. As for Mt. Olive, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Staunton will take on West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] in a tournament on Saturday. Staunton has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 185 points over their last three games. As for Mt. Olive, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Mt. Olive Wildcats challenge the Dupo Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on January 27th.
