Basketball Recap: New Palestine Dragons vs. Pendleton Heights Arabians
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the New Palestine Dragons had no problem doing just that on Friday. They had just enough and edged the Arabians out 46-44. The win was familiar territory for New Palestine who now have three in a row.
Allie Blum continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 24 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kylee Beranek, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Pendleton Heights lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kaycie Warfel. Despite the final result, she scored 25 points along with five steals. That was a full 56.8% of Pendleton Heights' points, marking the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Olivia Jones was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six rebounds.
New Palestine has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 14-10 record this season. As for Pendleton Heights, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-10 record this season.
New Palestine won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Marauders at 7:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Mt. Vernon will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. Pendleton Heights does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
