Basketball Recap: Wesson Takes a Loss

Wesson played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the McLaurin Tigers 75-41. The Cobras were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-16.

When it comes to explaining why Wesson lost, don't look at Kemari Brown. Despite the final result, he went 6-for-10 on his way to 17 points and seven rebounds. Brown is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Damarion Smith, who posted ten points.

McLaurin found their leader in sophomore TY Williams, who shot 69% from the field en route to 23 points in addition to six assists and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Trent White, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Wesson and nudges their season record down to 2-8. As for McLaurin, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Wesson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 61-31 loss against Franklin County on the 15th. As for McLaurin, they have also already played their next contest, a 53-52 defeat against Crystal Springs on the 12th.
