Recap: Telluride Miners vs. Ridgway Demons

This season hasn't been kind to the Telluride Miners, who are still winless after their seventh contest. They suffered a rough 41-16 defeat at the hands of Ridgway on Wednesday. Telluride was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 25-4.

Telluride's loss came despite strong showings from Emma Reggiannini and Tjarn Lyons. Reggiannini dropped a double-double on 11 rebounds and 13 steals, while Lyons scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals. Reggiannini is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Ridgway's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maddie Miller, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Miller pulled down eight or more rebounds. Ali Sauer was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Telluride's defeat was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.4 points per game. As for Ridgway, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Coincidentally, Telluride and Ridgway will both be playing Dolores the next time they take the court. Telluride will head out to face Dolores at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, while Ridgway will host them at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
