Basketball Recap: Thomasville Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Monte Colvin and Xavier Burkes Jr.

Thomasville lost against Fitzgerald back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Thomasville Bulldogs fell 72-59 to the Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane.

Despite the loss, Thomasville had strong showings from Xavier Burkes Jr., who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds, and Monte Colvin, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 16 points and five boards. That's the most rebounds Burkes Jr. has posted since back in December of 2023.

Even though they lost, Thomasville was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Thomasville's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Fitzgerald, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.

Thomasville has already played their next game, a 70-57 victory against Bacon County on the 5th. As for Fitzgerald, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 67-48 win against Coffee on the 5th.
