Avon Lake dropped their record down to 11-7 on Monday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the North Ridgeville Rangers by a score of 1-0. The Shoremen were not able to make up for their loss to the Rangers from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Brayden Poltrone was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits.

As for North Ridgeville, the win (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 17-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games.

On North Ridgeville's side, Jason Begalla tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, North Ridgeville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Lowe, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

While Avon Lake had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
