Basketball Game Preview: Lamar Thunder vs. Fort Lupton Bluedevils

Having just played yesterday, the Lamar Thunder will jump right back in to play the Fort Lupton Bluedevils at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Lamar is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They took down DSST: Conservatory Green 61-47.

Lamar's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jacob Dunning, who posted 15 points and five boards. The game was Dunning's third in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Gabrian Jacobs, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Lamar smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 16 consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Fort Lupton had already won 14 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.7 points) and they went ahead and made it 15 on Friday. They strolled past the Falcons with points to spare, taking the game 57-39.

Lamar's record now sits at 17-7. As for Fort Lupton, their record now sits at 20-4.

Lamar came up short against Fort Lupton when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 57-52. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Fort Lupton's Javon Gonzales, who went 9-for-14 on his way to 28 points along with eight steals and seven boards. Now that Lamar knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
