Football Recap: Jacobs Finds Playoff Glory Versus Addison Trail + How To Watch

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Jacobs walked away with it. They walked away with a 36-27 victory over the Addison Trail Blazers on Saturday. Jacobs' win was all the more impressive since the Blazers were averaging only 13.2 points allowed on the season.

Jacobs' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Caden DuMelle led the charge by rushing for 138 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.7 yards per carry. DuMelle also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because the Golden Eagles are undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise. Michael Cannady was another key back, rushing for 163 yards and one TD while picking up 7.4 yards per carry.

Jacobs' run defense was locked in: Addison Trail could only muster 3.2 yards per carry. The Golden Eagles didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.8.

Despite the loss, Addison Trail still got an impressive performance from Nico Dill, who threw for 232 yards and three touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. Gio Ortiz also helped out with an impressive 93 receiving yards.

Jacobs is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.0 points over those games. As for Addison Trail, they moved to 8-2 with that defeat, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Coming up, Jacobs will take on Brother Rice at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Crusaders' defense has only allowed 10.9 points per game this season, so the Golden Eagles' offense will have their work cut out for them. Addison Trail does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
