Baseball Game Preview: Salesian Mustangs vs. St. Monica Mariners

Salesian and St. Monica are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Mustangs will head out to challenge the Mariners at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. Salesian has given up an average of 8.4 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Salesian lost 17-7 to St. Bernard on Thursday. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Salesian saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Israel Ramirez, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Ramirez is becoming a predictor of the Mustangs' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 3-11 when he doesn't).

Meanwhile, St. Monica didn't have quite enough to beat Bishop Montgomery on Thursday and fell 5-4.

St. Monica's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Salesian, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.

Salesian beat St. Monica 7-3 when the teams last played back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
