Madison has gone a perfect 8-0 against Lanesville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Cubs will face off against the Eagles at 10:00 a.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Madison lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Columbus East, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's match. The Cubs put the hurt on the Olympians with a sharp 8-1 win on Wednesday. Considering the Cubs have won three contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Lanesville posted their closest victory since April 5, 2024 on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against South Central, sneaking past 8-6. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Jaxson Payne was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Jeremy Guffey also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Madison's record is now 4-1. As for Lanesville, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Madison took their victory against Lanesville in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 9-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cubs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
