Stevenson extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 11-13 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lake Forest Scouts. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Scouts this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-6 on Monday.

Stevenson got a good showing from Andrew Langerman, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Langerman gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had over his last four games.

On the hitting side, Kosuke Sakamoto made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

As for Lake Forest, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-12. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

On Lake Forest's side, Callum Morrison tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Morrison is becoming a predictor of the Scouts' success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 2-1 (and 7-11 when he doesn't).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Stephen Cole, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Ryan Valentincic also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Coming up, Stevenson is taking a road trip to challenge South Elgin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Lake Forest, they will be playing at home against Lakes at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
