The Chagrin Falls Tigers will venture away from home to challenge the Crestwood Red Devils at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Chagrin Falls has seven straight wins, Crestwood has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
Chagrin Falls barely beat Kirtland the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 3-0 victory on Thursday.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-23, 25-17.
Among those leading the charge was Sadie Conrad, who had 13 digs and one assist. Margaret Svette also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.
Meanwhile, Crestwood didn't have quite enough to beat Rootstown on Thursday and fell 3-2.
In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Crestwood sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 24-26, 25-17, 25-27, 15-6.
Chagrin Falls will have to keep a close watch on AUDREY JULIAN and MACY DAVIS, a pair of players who had a big impact on Crestwood's prior game. JULIAN had 21 digs and one assist, while DAVIS had 32 digs and four aces. DAVIS is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last five games she's played.
Chagrin Falls' win bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Crestwood, their loss dropped their record down to 4-13.
Chagrin Falls took their victory against Crestwood in their previous meeting on September 11th by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
