Football Recap: Lamar Comes Up Short

If Lamar was feeling good fresh off their 28-7 takedown of Heber Springs last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Warriors were dealt a 45-12 loss at the hands of the Clinton Yellowjackets on Friday. The Warriors were not able to make up for their defeat to the Yellowjackets from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Lamar lost, don't look at Eli Jones. Despite the final result, he rushed for 107 yards on only 15 carries, and also threw for 44 yards and one touchdown. Jones didn't just play on offense: he also made 12 total tackles and defended two passes.

Lamar's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Clinton, their victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0.

Coming up, Lamar will host Mena at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bearcats' defense has only allowed 11 points per game this season, so the Warriors' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Clinton, they will head out to challenge Pottsville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
