Baseball Game Preview: West Jefferson Roughriders vs. Greenon Knights

The West Jefferson Roughriders will challenge the Greenon Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (West Jefferson has seven straight victories, Greenon has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

West Jefferson's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Southeastern Local 14-0. The result was nothing new for the Roughriders, who have now won 11 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Greenon's offense. They came up short against Triad on Friday, falling 8-0. The game marked the first time this season in which the Knights were not able to get on the board.

Greenon saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson Fields, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

West Jefferson's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Greenon, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-15.

Everything went West Jefferson's way against Greenon when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as West Jefferson made off with a 12-0 win. Do the Roughriders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
