Football Recap: Vacaville Starts Season with Defeat at Home + How To Watch

Vacaville unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They and the Atwater Falcons were almost perfectly matched up on Friday, but the Bulldogs suffered a 65-64 loss. The Bulldogs were up 15-0 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Vacaville lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Rome Griego, who rushed for 150 yards and one TD, and also picked up 136 receiving yards and one score. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 64 yards. Another player making a difference was Brendan Jackson, who threw for 316 yards and four touchdowns while completing 77.3% of his passes.

Looking ahead, Vacaville will head out on the road to square off against West Park at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Atwater, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hughson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
