Softball Recap: Worthington Kilbourne Comes Up Short

Worthington Kilbourne had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 8-9 to make it four. They lost 20-7 to the Westerville North Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 24-4 on April 14th.

Scarlett Elder was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI. Another player making a difference was Josie Janosy, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

As for Westerville North, their win bumped their record up to 8-11. Considering they have won seven matches by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Westerville North's side, Emma Polovick and Ella Effron did most of the damage at the plate: Polovick went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Effron went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs Effron has posted since April 7th. The team also got some help courtesy of Ali Merrell, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Worthington Kilbourne will welcome Westerville South at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolves are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Westerville North, they will square off against Dublin Scioto at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Irish's pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Warriors' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
