Football Recap: Mastery Comes Up Short

Mastery extended their losing streak to seven on Friday, dropping them down to 0-7. They lost 40-20 to the Gateway Regional Gators. If the Warrior were looking for revenge after losing 33-0 to the Gators when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Gateway Regional, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3. The result was nothing new for the Gators, who have now won four matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.

Gateway Regional got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Dj Binck out in front who rushed for 100 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also threw for 33 yards and one TD. Lamar Smith was another key rusher, rushing for 109 yards and one score on only five carries.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Mastery will face off against rival Gloucester Catholic on Saturday. Meanwhile, Gateway Regional is set to take on their familiar foe Pitman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
