Baseball Recap: Eldorado Comes Up Short

Eldorado extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 4-8. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Western Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 on Tuesday.

Eldorado saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sabino Sanchez, who went 2-for-3 with one run. Another was Isaac Sanchez, who earned one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.

As for Western, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-11. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two runs across that stretch.

On Western's side, River Martinez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up ten Ks. Martinez has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cade Quintana, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Leonel Gonzalez was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double.

Eldorado didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-1 win against Desert Pines on the 14th. As for Western, they have also already played their next contest, an 18-0 defeat against Mater Academy East Las Vegas on the 13th.
