Baseball Recap: Burney Raiders vs. Chester Volcanoes
Burney was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 18-11 to the Chester Volcanoes. The Raiders were not able to make up for their defeat to the Volcanoes from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
Burney saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was James Fields, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Burney's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Chester, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Burney will host Plumas Charter at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Chester, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Quincy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Volcanoes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season.
