Baseball Game Preview: Calvary Christian Cougars vs. Dayton Greendevils

Calvary Christian has gone a perfect 10-0 against Dayton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. Calvary Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against Dayton at 8:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Calvary Christian has three straight victories, Dayton has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Calvary Christian and Ludlow had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. Calvary Christian blew past Ludlow 14-4 on Tuesday. With that win, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 7.6 runs per game.

Josh Ruwe made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only two hits (and only one walk). Ruwe was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Adam Curtis was excellent, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Finn Zachary, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Calvary Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ludlow only posted a batting average of .211.

Meanwhile, Dayton fell victim to Ludlow and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 10-0.

Dayton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Calvary Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

Calvary Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against Dayton in their previous matchup on Friday, sneaking past 5-3. Will Calvary Christian repeat their success, or does Dayton has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
