Softball Game Preview: Bishop Carroll Huskies vs. Richland Rams

The Bishop Carroll Huskies will challenge the Richland Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Bishop Carroll fell victim to Bedford and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Bisons, falling 15-0. The Huskies haven't had much luck with the Bisons recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Richland, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Somerset a 2-0 shutout on Thursday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

The result came thanks to Carissa Weld's shutout, as she gave up just four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Richland saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jenna Jordan, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Richland pushed their record up to 8-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bishop Carroll, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-12.
