Football Recap: Fort Bend Willowridge Falls to Lamar Consolidated in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Fort Bend Willowridge had to start their season on the road on Saturday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell 13-6 to the Lamar Consolidated Mustangs. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

A big part of Lamar Consolidated's win came down to the chemistry between Edgar Garcia and his top target Isaiah Cobbin. Garcia rushed for 53 yards and one score while Cobbin picked up 76 receiving yards and one touchdown. Those 53 rushing yards gave Garcia a new career-high.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fort Bend Willowridge will challenge Friendswood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lamar Consolidated, they will face off against Fort Bend Kempner at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
