Soccer Recap: Riverside Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

While Riverside's win against James F. Byrnes wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Warriors' defense stepped up to hand the Rebels a 1-0 shutout on Thursday. Given Riverside's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 25th, while James F. Byrnes are ranked 94th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The victory (which was Riverside's fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four contests. As for James F. Byrnes, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-8.

Coming up, Riverside will take on Wade Hampton at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Riverside will need to watch out since Wade Hampton have now posted at least four goals in their last three matches. As for James F. Byrnes, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Non Varsity Opponent at 6:00 p.m. on the 14th.
