Football Recap: Fort Wayne Wayne Takes a Loss

Fort Wayne Wayne extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to ten on Friday, dropping them down to 0-9. They had to suffer through a 47-14 loss at the hands of the Fort Wayne Northrop Bruins. While losing is never fun, the Generals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 244th, while the Bruins are ranked 46th).

Fort Wayne Wayne didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kamari Morris and Tyree Eldridge. Fort Wayne Wayne got some further help from Javontae Eldridge: he picked up a sack and made five total tackles (2.0 for loss).

As for Fort Wayne Northrop, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory they have posted against Fort Wayne Wayne since August 28, 2015.

Fort Wayne Northrop's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Levi Portee, who rushed for 127 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only seven carries. Those 127 rushing yards gave Portee a new career-high. Kobe Reese also helped out as he racked up 104 rushing yards.

Fort Wayne Wayne and Fort Wayne Northrop are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Generals will challenge Fort Wayne South Side at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fort Wayne Northrop, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Fort Wayne Snider at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st.
