Recap: Lake Norman Charter Knights vs. East Rowan Mustangs

There's no place like home for the Lake Norman Charter Knights, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They strolled past East Rowan with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 77-63. Given Lake Norman Charter's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while East Rowan is ranked 565th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Lake Norman Charter to victory were Braylon Irelan and Major Leak. Irelan scored 24 points, while Leak scored 16 points along with 6 steals. The contest was Irelan's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Collin Mcconneyhead, who scored 12 points.

Despite the loss, East Rowan still got an impressive performance from Drake Jones, who scored 33 points. Jonathan Wembolua was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Lake Norman Charter now has a winning record of 3-2. As for East Rowan, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Norman Charter will face off against Northwest Cabarrus at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Northwest Cabarrus' favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for East Rowan, they will head out on the road to face off against West Rowan at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully West Rowan focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Wednesday.
