Basketball Recap: Broughton Victorious

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Broughton ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. In a tight match that could have gone either way, they made off with a 65-64 win over the Leesville Road Pride. The score was all tied up 27-27 at the break, but the Capitals were the better team in the second half.

Leading Broughton to victory were Jordan Page and Storm Taylor. Page dropped a double-double on 18 points and 18 boards, while Taylor went 9 for 19 en route to 22 points and seven rebounds. Page is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last 18 games he's played dating back to last season. Christian Outlaw was another key player, putting up seven points and eight boards.

Broughton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Broughton's record now sits at 10-5. As for Leesville Road, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-5 record this season.

Broughton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 56-53 defeat against Sanderson on the 17th. As for Leesville Road, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 71-68 victory against Cardinal Gibbons on the 17th.
