Basketball Recap: Merkel Comes Up Short

Merkel was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 71-26 loss at the hands of the Sweetwater Mustangs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Badgers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 82-41 back in January.

Merkel's defeat dropped their record down to 7-19. As for Sweetwater, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a massive bump to their 14-12 record this season.

Looking ahead, Merkel is taking a road trip to challenge Grape Creek at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Merkel is facing Grape Creek at the right time seeing as Grape Creek is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Sweetwater, they will be playing at home against Clyde at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
